It is possible to surf on Globe Tattoo for free, thanks to hacks related to the way Globe tunnels traffic across the internet. If you’ve run out of load or hit the 800mb bandwidth limit, then you’ll want to use a Globe Tattoo hack to continue browsing for free. There are free and paid options for bypassing Globe load or bandwidth requirements.

Modified opera mini

If you want to browse for free on your cell phone, you can download a modified version of opera mini which uses special proxy IPs to let you surf without load. You should be careful about logging into personal services like email accounts, since you don’t know who is operating those proxies and what information they’re logging.

Strip HTTP protocol

Thanks for PhilippineInternets.com for this tip! By stripping off the HTTP protocol information (ie HTTP/1.0 or HTTP/1.1), you can surf without load or after passing the 800mb per day limit. To do this, you’ll have to use a local proxy script which strips out the protocol information.

With an increasing number of companies, schools and even homes using openDNS to block websites, there’s an increased interest in finding ways to bypass these oppressive restrictions. Some companies block high bandwidth sites like youtube while schools usually block social media websites such as Facebook.

These blocks rely on the fact that your computer sends DNS requests through to openDNS and not any other DNS servers. So getting around or bypassing openDNS is a relatively simple task, especially if you have admin control of your computer.

You simply need to set your computer to use alternative DNS servers than those being assigned by the router (openDNS). You can use any public DNS server, such as Google Public DNS on 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Alternatively you could route your traffic through a VPN or SSH Tunnel, or simply use a free online web proxy.

Of course you should be careful with your private information, such as passwords, when using a free web proxy since you don’t know what kind of logging could be going on by the site operator.

If your IT administrators were smart enough to redirect all outgoing traffic on port 53 to openDNS, you may be forced to use a DNS server which operates on a non-standard port such as 5353 or use a VPN.

When my friends and I go on a road trip, I bring chips, water, and just enough cash for the toll gates and gas. Celebrities usually bring their maids, butlers, bodyguards, publicists, driver, champagne, caviar and the latest gadgets and gizmos. Brad and Angelina actually need two planes when they go on vacations – one for practically half their house including a travel wardrobe, roving clinic (yes, with nurses and doctors and medical equipment), fully stocked fridge, and hey, why not just throw in the pool and the kitchen sink while you’re at it?? The other is for their family – with the comfy couch, amazing bed, and something that looks like it came from a home and furnishing magazine – except this is a plane, a thousand meters from the ground.

Tom and Kate never travel without their “staff” which includes a gourmet chef, a vegetarian chef, a pastry chef, a bartender, the wine expert, medical experts and of course the bodyguards. I find it ludicrously extravagant and wonder if they do it out of the need to survive or the need to brag. Why would they bring all these strangers if they were going out to unwind in the first place?

A pink Aura color is a delightful thing to possess. People love the color pink – it is feminine, tender, gentle, pleasing to the eyes, and has the tendency to represent a mix of naughtiness and innocence that lurks within. Blushing is rosy pink; baby girls are powder pink; lovely and graceful grandmothers are salmon pink. Pink is prom night, roses, health and mild romance. Pink is a product of a strong, attention-catching shade (red) and a blank canvass (white).

This Aura usually means a person is an extremely well balanced individual, finding contentment in the small things about life as well as having the courage to take risks and become adventurous. He or she leads a healthy spiritual life, but at the same time lives life to the fullest and enjoys every minute of it. Pink people have bad sides and good sides, and they are perfectly capable of finding the right balance in such a way that they have fun without hurting anyone.

If the Aura color of a person is red, it’s not something he or she should be happy about. A red Aura color means that someone is highly dependent on material objects in their quest for finding happiness. He or she makes decisions based on the shallow details such as wealth or money, using neither the mind or the heart but rather the dollar signs that control his or her life. Not only materialistic, this shallow behavior translates in his or her view of others – looks is very important to people who have a red Aura. They go the extra mile to look good, and usually only do so in order to impress others. His or her relationships are like business deals that are not rooted on emotions, chemistry, or spiritual connections.

The red Aura color also means that the person is overdramatic and extremely short-tempered. He or she has the tendency to blow things out of proportion, making mountains out of molehills just to get a good “reward” from the resolution.

Just like zodiac signs that give us our daily dose of luck in money and love, everyone is also believed to have a “Ruling Planet” that determines one’s general attitude or personality. This can be determined by pinpointing the planet in a person’s birth chart which is most strongly aligned on the date and time you were conceived into this world. Your Ruling Planet is said to have a stronger effect on you than your Zodiac sign, although only a few individuals know about these things, and even fewer take the time to study each planet and its movements, tabulating the results in order to determine the characteristics of a person and what he or she must change.

There are also special individuals, like catie, who are descendants of the Sun (sun-ruler) or Moon (moon-ruler) – they are usually fortunate in life, and blessed with a good character. I don’t know a lot about them, but there are people who do intensive research on the strength of the planets by sign, aspect and elevation. Other planets with powerful locations must also be taken into consideration, for example when Mars intersects with Capricorn, they conjunct the Mid-Heaven and thus becomes a prime candidate for rulership, especially if the other rulers are weakly placed. Try to go to an astrology expert that you may know so that you can ask help and be informed of your Ruling Planet. Who knows, it could help you win the lottery!

My Very Eager Mother Just Served Us Nachos. This was the code I used back in middle school so that I could remember the planets – well, it used to be “My Very Eager Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas”, but Pluto apparently lost its title so we got nachos instead. This code stood for the the eight planets – Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. I remember studying about them and little bits about the planets – like, Mars was the red planet, Juputer was the biggest one and Saturn had rings – but I never fully understood what a planet is. I guess my brain had a hard time comprehending the thought that there were eight “Earths” all over – I mean heck, I get goosebumps just staring into the wide open seas and thinking about what’s “out there”!

Scientists don’t really know what a planet is, or how to define it. They just know that in order to be called a planet, something has to (a) orbit around the sun and (b) have enough gravitational mass within its core so that it takes the shape of a sphere.
In the world of astrology, each planet symbolizes an aspect of a person’s character – for example, Mars represents passion and Jupiter stands for good fortune and wisdom. While NASA sees the orbiting around the sun as day and night, astrologists define them as positive and negative rulerships, their sides affecting the people rely on one of the eight planets to exhibit their core values.

Leonardo DiCaprio is undoubtedly one of the hottest and most talented Hollywood actors of our time. Growing up in Echo Park, a particularly seedy and drug-dominated area of Los Angeles back then, young Leo knew he wanted to be an actor. However, when he appeared on his favorite TV show “Romper Room” at the tender age of 5, he almost got kicked out for misbehaving. He learned proper TV ethics and landed a string of commercials, an educational Disney film and several small parts in TV shows. He got his breakthrough when he played Toby in This Boy’s Life (1993), acting alongside Robert De Niro and Ellen Barkin.?Although he is most famous for his role as Jack in Titanic, Leo has played difficult roles of Arnie in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape (1993), druggie Jim Carroll in The Basketball Diaries (1995), a tormented homosexual poet in Total Eclipse (1995), and modern Romeo in Romeo and Juliet (1996).

Titanic holds the title of the movie with the most number of Academy Awards wons, though strangely enough Leo himself was not nominated. He had a couple of flop-films after the blockbuster, but he made another comeback in Catch Me If You Can (2002) and solidified his title as an A-list star (and his $20M per movie salary!).
Learning from his past mistakes, Leo expressed his decision to only do roles that are mentally and emotionally “challenging”, with profound characters and a meaningful plot.

John Christopher Depp, better known as Johnny Depp or Captain Jack Sparrow to his adoring fans and the general public, is perhaps one of the most versatile actors in the industry today. From a crazy pirate to a colorful candyman with perfect teeth, to a schizophrenic writer, to a murderous barber who suddenly breaks into song, he can play any role you throw his way and make any script come to life with the magical trademark that is Johnny Depp.

His career kicked off when he played in a series of garage bands, including The Kids, which once opened for Iggy Pop. He got married to Lori Anderson in 1983 in Florida, moved to Hollywood, and got a divorce two years later. Lori introduced Depp to Nicolas Cage, who introduced him to his agent. The rest is history. He got the role of his first movie Nightmare at Elm Street (1984) because the producer’s teenage daughter thought he was “dreamy”. After this movie was released, roles just kept coming his way and that’s when he realized he was born to be an actor, not the musician he dreamed.

From the age of five, Jessica Alba was in love with the idea of becoming an actress. She took her first acting classes at the age of 12, and signed by an agent after 9 months. She made her film debut in 1993 in a comedy called Camp Nowhere. She was supposed to be an extra with a two-week contract, but the original actress intended for the main role suddenly dropped out. The two-week contract transformed into two months, and Jessica impressed a lot of people with this her acting prowess. She got plenty of offers for commercials, print ads, TV shows and indie films.

She was also featured in several magazines and landed major roles in two movies: Never Been Kissed (1999) and Idle Hands (1999). However, her breakthrough role came when she was selected to play the lead role in the sci-fi TV series Dark Angel (2000). Since then, she has impressed audiences around the world with roles as a (hot!) dancing instructor in Honey, the sultry seductress in Sin City and the sexy superhero in Fantastic Four- among other films.
Today, she is a dedicated husband and mother, an actress, an activist, a charitable donor and a sex symbol in her own right.

When the sun sets and the sky loses its brightness, the moon and several tiny twinkling dots of light take charge. These tiny stars sprinkled across the night sky fascinate us with how brightly they sparkle each night, but just as fascinating is the story of how they are made and what they really are. In a scientific sense, a star is simply a ball of hydrogen and helium with enough mass that it can sustain nuclear fusion at its core (that’s fancy science jabber for “not blow up”). Stars come in different colors, shapes and sizes.

When a gravitational disturbance, like a supernova explosion or a mass collision, occurs in the vast solar system, a cloud of gas collapses- and this end marks the beginning of star formations. As the gas particles come together, the cloud heats up. Conservation of momentum from the movement of all the particles in the cloud as well as the gravitational force around them causes the whole cloud to begin spinning. The formation of a star at the heart of the cloud heats up from the gravitational collapse of all the hydrogen and helium, and after a looong period of time, (try 100 million years), temperatures and pressures at its center point become enough for nuclear fusion can take place. From this point on, the object becomes a star we see at night.

Take note that a star is made up of hydrogen and helium with extinguishing and creating forces. Once the hydrogen burns out, the helium will need to find something to burn- sometimes, they burn out (but that takes billions of years), but the bigger stars die more violently and their ends give rise to neutron stars and black holes.

The elements that make up the moon is quite a bit of a mystery. It is definitely not made of cheese, but what is it that lights up our night sky? Determining the composition of the moon’s surface was made easier when the first pair of human feet landed there, but scientists can only guess the internal composition of the Moon is. Like the Earth, which has the crust, mantle and core, the moon has layers too. The innermost layer, which makes up 20% of the moon, is called the lunar core. Scientists believe that the lunar core is primarily made up of metallic iron, and trace amounts of sulfur and nickel. Astronomers who have been studying this mystifying entity have deduced that the core of the Moon is partly molten.

After the core comes the largest region of the Moon, called the lunar mantle. It is about 50 kilometers below the moon’s surface, and just as rich with lunar minerals as the Earth’s mantle is with iron and sulfur. The outermost layer of the Moon, called the lunar crust, extends up to a depth of 50 kilometers as well. This layer is one that scientists know the most about and have actually analyzed samples brought back by astronomers. The lunar crust is made up of oxygen, silicon, magnesium, iron, calcium, and aluminum. There are also bits of other elements, such as titanium, uranium, thorium, potassium and hydrogen.

The sun is like a tiny fireball in the sky the lights up the whole wide world- and the other worlds that surround it. Okay, so it’s not really tiny…it just looks tiny because it’s so far away. But have you ever wondered what the sun is made of?

If the sun were as small as your average globe, then that question would be easier to answer with a demonstration. 74% of the burning ball is made of Hydrogen and 24% is made of Helium. The remaining 2% that make up this astrological body that gives us light and warmth is composed of nickel, magnesium, calcium, iron, oxygen, silicon, sulfur, carbon, neon, and chromium.

When the Universe was just starting out and the story of creation was just unfolding, the first called Hydrogen is believed to have interacted with Helium into forming an explosive body of extreme heat and brightness. So scientifically speaking, the sun is made up of elements left over from the Big Bang- elements that were formed from the birth and death of stars. Pretty amazing, huh?

You’ve probably made the blooper of wearing too much white and ending up looking luminescent in parties. You can blame black lights for this faux pas. Black lights look like normal fluorescent lamps or light bulbs, but they are completely different in nature. White clothes, teeth and lots of other things “glow” in the dark , because the bulb of the black light itself only emits a faint purple light. For example, if you have a fluorescent poster and shine a black light on it in a dark room, the poster will glow brightly. You may have also seen “secret messages” that look like a blank piece of paper in regular light but spell out a glowing secret when shown under black light. Night clubs and amusement parks use seemingly ink-less stamps that are invisible, but when you re-enter, they shine a long piece of black light and something glows on your skin.

If you turn on a black light bulb in a dark room, what you can see from the bulb is a faint purple glow that doesn’t really light up the room. What you can’t see is the ultraviolet light that the bulb is also producing. Our eyes can see visible light in a spectrum ranging from red through orange, yellow, green, blue and violet. Above violet in the color spectrum is ultraviolet, which is unseen by the naked eye– this explains why black light, it’s counterpart, makes the “invisible” things glow.

People spend a considerable amount of time in their lives staring blankly into space. Most of this wasted time is actually planned – couples organize expensive beach trips and people hike up long winding paths up to the mountains just to look at the setting sun. So what causes the sunset to look so fascinatingly hypnotic? The colors of a sunset result from a scientific phenomenon called scattering. Because the earth rotates around is axis and different parts of the sun are exposed to different parts of the world at certain times, small particles in the atmosphere change the direction of light rays and cause them to scatter.

This phenomenon affects the color of light from the sky, but the specific colors are determined by (a) the wavelength of the light and (b) the size of the particle. Meteorlogist Perry Anderson shares, “Because the sun is low on the horizon, sunlight passes through more air at sunset and sunrise than during the day, when the sun is higher in the sky. More atmosphere means more molecules to scatter the violet and blue light away from your eyes. If the path is long enough, all of the blue and violet light scatters out of your line of sight. The other colors continue on their way to your eyes. This is why sunsets are often yellow, orange, and red.”

There are people who look amazing in person, but they look about as good as my dad’s foot in pictures. I’ve taken great pics, decent pics and pics that were absolutely horrible I wanted to run to the nearest plastic surgeon after hitting the “review” button. What I noticed though, is that I looked absolutely gorgeous when bathed in yellow light – powder rooms, street corners, hotel lobbies, etc. My pimples disappeared, and my face looked velvety smooth! In natural light however, each blemish and every dirty pore is all too visible.

My photographer educated me on the magic of proper lighting and emitters when taking pictures. Yellow light apparently aids in concealing skin conditions, in pretty much the same way make-up works. Hence, having your skin bathed in yellow light is like a way of blending your natural skin with the blemishes and giving the appearance of smooth, clear skin. Who needs photoshop when you have yellow light to help you out?

There is a scary psych experiment that happened (quite recently, like during the 70′s or 80′s) in a South African army that centered on the lesbian and gay soldiers – they were forced to undergo sex change operations. Prior to that, they were tortured with electric shocks, castration, and other cruel means to get them to behave according to their biological genders. Although the exact number remains unknown, the interviewed army surgeons estimated as many as 900 forced sexual reassignment operations performed between 1971 and 1989 at military hospitals. This was all part of a top-secret program to eradicate homosexuality from the service.

Army psychiatrists violently arrested suspected homosexuals from the armed forces and sent them to a place called Ward 22 in the Voortrekkerhoogte Military Hospital. Those who could not be “cured” with drugs and torture were forced to have a sex change. The results were radical, with more than half of the victims suffering from mental disorders such as suicidal tendencies and bipolarity.

The head of the study was Dr. Aubrey Levin and – good Lord! – he is now a Clinical Professor in the Forensic Division of the University of Calgary Medical School’s Department of Psychiatry. Strangely enough, he’s also a member with a good standing in the College of Practicing Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

I was cleaning up some stuff from my old house the other day when I stumbled upon this box that contained all of my notebooks way back from 10th grade. I laughed out loud as I flipped through the pages and saw that there was more writing from the back of the notebooks than from the front – in other words, there were more doodles than actual academic notes. It wasn’t a big surprise, since I know for a fact that lectures can only keep my attention for 10 minutes max, and the rest of the period is spent daydreaming.

Human beings are said to have an average attention span of seven seconds in any given situation where they are required to listen. This means that when you’re talking to your best friend or parents and you’re the listener (for instance, your best friend is seeking advice, or your parents are giving you a lecture), your mind wanders off after seven seconds of listening to them. Clearly, listening is not like breathing or blinking – it’s something that has to be done consciously, and we should all train ourselves to have horse-vision that automatically ignores distractions!

In 1924, Carney Landis, a psychology graduate at the University of Minnesota developed an experiment to determine whether different emotions create facial expressions specific to that emotion. The aim of this experiment was to see if all people have a common expression when feeling disgust, shock, joy, and so on.

Most of the participants in the experiment were students. They were taken to a lab and their faces were painted with black lines, in order to study the movements of their facial muscles. They were then exposed to a variety of stimuli designed to create a strong reaction. As each person reacted, they were photographed by Landis. The subjects were made to smell ammonia, to look at pornography, and to put their hands into a bucket of frogs. But the controversy around this study was the final part of the test.

Participants were shown a live rat and given instructions to behead it. While all the participants were repelled by the idea, fully one third did it. The situation was made worse by the fact that most of the students had no idea how to perform this operation in a humane manner and the animals were forced to experience great suffering. For the one third who refused to perform the decapitation, Landis would pick up the knife and cut the animals head off for them.

The consequences of the study were actually more important for their evidence that people are willing to do almost anything when asked in a situation like this. The study did not prove that humans have a common set of unique facial expressions.

Ivan Pavlov is the father of conditioning, but John Watson is a close cousin of this field and became known as father of behaviorism. Ironic how he is known as the “father” of something when his infamy as a psychologist who experimented on orphans precedes his name up to this day. In one experiment, Watson wanted to see if fear was something that a person was born with, or if it was a conditioned response. He adopted a 9-month-old boy from a hospital and gave him the name “Little Albert”. Watson exposed him to a furry white rabbit, a white rat, a monkey and a variety of tribal masks, burning objects, and a bunch of other things for two months without any sort of conditioning. Then, one day, Watson placed Albert on a mattress in the middle of a small room. He then placed a white lab rat for Albert to play with, and in the process observed that the child was not afraid of the rat.

Now, the experiment began. After Albert grew to like the rat and playing with it, Watson started to bang a hammer on a steel bar every time the baby would touch the rat. When the disturbing sound would ring out, Little Albert cried and manifested fear. After this was done several times, Albert began to associate the scary sound to the rat, who was initially a friend to him.

Watson performed more distressing actions to invoke fear in the baby, and eventually Little Albert started to become afraid of anything fluffy, white or both in general – he would produce a fearful response of crying. Watson proved that fear can be conditioned, but I believe there could have been a more humane way to do so. Little Albert was never reconditioned to get rid of this fear, and lived the rest of his life with that strange phobia.

Using animals in experiments is very helpful in the world of science. It plays a vital role in aiding pharmaceutical companies manufacture drugs that can save lives. However, a handful of scientists take the experiments so far that people can hardly see the relevance for such cruel animal abuse. An experiment infamously known as the “monkey drug trials” conducted last 1969 by scientists that up to this day remain anonymous used a big group of monkeys who were trained to inject themselves with a wide variety of drugs- this included morphine, alcohol, cocaine, and crystal meth. As soon as the monkeys were able to self-inject, they were left alone with a virtually unlimited supply of each drug which they would inject to their liking.

Obviously, the monkeys grew so disturbed that some actually broke their arms in their wild attempts to escape. The monkeys who injected themselves with cocaine regularly suffered convulsions and some of them tore off their own fingers (possibly as a result of hallucinations brought by the drug). One monkey taking amphetamines tore all of the fur from his arm and abdomen, and in the case of cocaine and morphine combined, death would occur within 2 weeks.

The point of the experiment was simply to understand the effects of addiction and drug use; a point which, I think, most rational and ethical people would know did not require such horrendous treatment of animals.

A famous psychologist named Philip Zimbardo led an experiment in Stanford University to examine that behaviour of individuals when they were tasked with paying the role of either a prisoner or a guard. The main goal of the experiment was to pinpoint the attitude change in each individual, and to observe the norms that they were expected to display. The experiment was called the Stanford Prison Experiment.

Prisoners were put into a situation that purposely injected a sense of disorientation, degradation, and depersonalization. The guards were not given any specific directions and they were not trained on how to carry out their roles, they were simply told about their “part” in the experiment and acting it out was entirely left up to them. At first, the students were unsure of how to carry out their roles, but after a while they took the experiment seriously. During the second day of the experiment, there was a rebellion by the prisoners which caused the guards to respond severely. Things just got worse from there.

The guards became paranoid about the prisoners and in order to protect themselves, they implemented a system in order to control the prisoners – down to their bodily functions. Prisoners began to exhibit signs of emotional disturbances, intense depression, and forced helplessness. They used numbers to identify themselves instead of their actual named, and when asked how they planned to leave the prison, prisoners were confused – seemingly having forgotten that they were students who were simply participating in an experiment.

Zimbardo ended the experiment in just five short days because he realized just how real the prison had become to the subjects. Though the experiment was brief, the interpretation of the results are quite frightening – people can easily abuse power when it is given freely to them, and with unrestricted amounts.
